"Between stimulus and response lies a space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose a response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom"- Viktor Frankl.

approach

When we first start working together, my priority is to understand where you are right now and what you would like to be different. Therapy is a collaborative process: we will work as a team to make sense of how your difficulties developed and what may be maintaining them in the present.

Our work together will usually include the following elements:

1. Developing awareness
Through discussion and reflection, we will explore your difficulties to understand where they come from and how they are being maintained.

2. Understanding the CBT model
I will introduce you to a simple and practical model to help you make sense of how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours interact.

3. Creating change
Using this model and other evidence-based techniques, we will work together to develop alternative ways of thinking and responding to your challenges.

4. Building practical tools
You will learn tools and techniques to help you create space from difficult thoughts and feelings, so you have more choice in how you respond.

5. Understanding and regulating the nervous system
Cognitive work can be very effective, but it’s only one part of the picture. Psychological wellbeing also involves understanding how your nervous system responds to stress and learning ways to support regulation and balance.

background and EXPERIENCE

I am a British therapist living in Madrid, and I am particularly attuned to the emotional and psychological challenges that can arise when living abroad. Many expatriates experience difficulties around identity, belonging, isolation, or adjustment, and these can understandably impact wellbeing.

Before training as a therapist, I worked in television production. Through this, I developed a firsthand understanding of stress, burnout, and the pressures of balancing demanding work with other areas of life.

I have over five years’ clinical experience working with adults. My areas of special interest include anxiety, OCD, low self-worth, and perfectionism.

TRAINING and accreditation

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from Goldsmiths, University of London, and have completed three diplomas in CBT/REBT with the College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies.

I am accredited by the NCPS and work in accordance with their ethical and confidentiality standards. I also attend regular clinical supervision.
